Day 1: Arrive Christchurch
On arrival at Christchurch airport, you will be met by
our representative and transferred to your city hotel (self drive
passengers collect your car on arrival). Known as the Garden City",
Christchurch is the South Island's largest city. It's a vibrant,
cosmopolitan place with exciting festivals, theatre, modern art
galleries, great shopping and award-winning attractions.
Day
2: Christchurch (B)
Your tour today explores some of North Canterbury's boutique vineyards,
Waipara Springs, Mark Rattray, Canterbury House and Pegasus Bay,
all producing a fine selection of both white and red wines. Mark
Rattray, Pegasus Bay and Waipara Springs are all located in the
Waipara area, well known for its warm dry climate and limestone
rich soils, both ideal for quality wine production. Should any of
the above named wineries be unavailable on the day of the tour,
an alternative winery in the Waipara area will be included.
Day
3: Christchurch - Mt Cook (BD)
Depart Christchurch today and travel through diverse farmland to
Lake Tekapo, where you can view the solitary Church of the Good
Shepherd. Your tour then continues along the Tasman River before
arriving in Mt Cook National Park where you will find New Zealand’s
tallest mountain, Aoraki / Mt Cook which stands at 3754 metres.
Awarded 'World Heritage' status in recognition of its qualities
and rare beauty, the Park covers an area of nearly 70,000 hectares
and contains all but five of the 27 peaks over 3,000 metres (10,000
feet) in New Zealand.
Day
4: Mt Cook - Queenstown (B)
Depart Mt Cook National Park today and follow the shores of Lake
Pukaki and into the rugged landscape of the Mackenzie Basin. Then
continue on through the golden tussock country of the Lindis Pass.
Enjoy the scenery of the fruit growing region of Cromwell and the
historic gold mining region of the rugged Kawarau Gorge before arriving
in Queenstown.
Day
5: Queenstown (BL)
Depart mid-morning and enjoy a relaxed and informative day out in
the company of a senior wine tour guide. During today’s tour you
will get to taste a selection of some of the regions premium cool
climate wines whilst visiting some of the best vineyards in the
Queenstown region as you visit five vineyards in Gibbston Valley,
Bannockburn and/or Alexandra with lunch included.
Day
6: Queenstown (B)
Today is at leisure to relax or explore Queenstown. Whether it's
bungy jumping, white-water rafting, heli-skiing, fly-fishing, hang
gliding, horseriding, jetboating or scenic flights, you will find
thrills and excitement in every way imaginable. Meanwhile, other
activities such as exploring historic Arrowtown, scenic walks, ecotours,
shopping, galleries, cafes and an exciting nightlife provide something
for everyone all year round.
Day
7: Depart Queenstown (B)
Sadly, your holiday is at an end as you travel to the airport today
for your onward flight. Here, we bid you a fond farewell to your
homeland and hope you leave with many happy memories of your stay
in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
